Ria Bintan's opening hole is a wonderful par five measuring 578 yards.
The elevated tee provides the player with a commanding view of the generous
landing area, where the very long hitter will be tested by two bunkers to the
right and large lake to the left of the fairway. The landing area for the second
shot is guarded by a series of bunkers to the left and by water to the right,
features which call for pinpoint accuracy rather than length. As the entire right
portion of the green is situated on the edge of the lake, the left side of the
fairway affords a much safer route to the flag. This hole is well out of reach
in two shots, except for the very long hitter.
