We would like to assure the public that Bintan Resorts is not affected by the earthquakes that struck the western coast of Indonesia's Sumatra Island on 30th September and 1st October 2009.

As is the case in Singapore, the tremors were felt in some areas in Bintan Resorts. However, there has been no report of any adverse effect or damage. Businesses and all activities at the resorts are proceeding as usual and our Crisis Centre will continue to monitor the situation.

The island of Bintan sits on the same tectonic plate as Singapore and as such, is generally not affected by earth movements caused by earthquakes along the fault lines in the 'Ring of Fire'.
